清明节起源于古代的寒食节，相传起源于春秋时期的晋国。晋文公重耳逃亡时，被介子推割股肉救活。后来，晋文公成为国君，介子推却隐居山林，拒绝做官。晋文公为了纪念介子推的忠诚，下令在介子推去世的这一天禁止烟火，只吃冷食，因此形成了寒食节。随着时间的推移，寒食节与清明节逐渐合并，形成了现在的清明节。

The Qingming Festival, also known as the Tomb-Sweeping Day, has its origins in the ancient Hanxi Festival. It is believed to have originated during the Spring and Autumn period of the Jin Dynasty. The story goes that when the Duke of Jin, Zhong'er, was in exile, he was saved by Jie Zitui by having a piece of his own flesh cooked for him. Later, when Zhong'er became the ruler of the state, he wanted to honor Jie Zitui's loyalty and ordered a day of mourning where no fires were to be lit, and only cold food was to be eaten, thus creating the Hanxi Festival. Over time, the Hanxi Festival gradually merged with the Qingming Festival, forming the festival we celebrate today.

Filled with regret, Zhong'er went in search of Jie Zitui, but found him dead.
