The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. It has a long history, dating back to the Warring States period. The festival commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a loyal minister who drowned himself in the Miluo River after being betrayed by his king. To prevent fish from eating his body, local people paddled dragon boats and threw zongzi, sticky rice dumplings, into the river. Over time, the festival has evolved into a time for families to gather, enjoy delicious food, and participate in various activities such as dragon boat races and wearing medicinal herbs. Today, the Dragon Boat Festival remains a symbol of loyalty, bravery, and the spirit of unity.
