### Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe

#### Ingredients:

- 1 whole turkey (usually about 15-20 pounds)

- 1/2 cup melted butter or oil

- 1 tablespoon salt

- 1 tablespoon pepper

- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

- 1/2 teaspoon paprika

- 1/2 teaspoon thyme

- 1/2 teaspoon rosemary

- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed

- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning

- 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

- Optional: stuffing (such as cornbread stuffing or wild rice stuffing)

#### Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Turkey:**

- Remove the giblets from the turkey and rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water.

- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.

2. **Season the Turkey:**

- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter or oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, rosemary, celery seed, and poultry seasoning.

- Rub the mixture all over the outside of the turkey, making sure to get some inside the cavity as well.

3. **Optional: Stuffing:**

- If you're using stuffing, place it in the cavity of the turkey. You can also cook the stuffing separately.

4. **Roast the Turkey:**

- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

- Place the turkey in a roasting pan. If you're using stuffing, make sure to put the roasting pan on the lowest rack in the oven.

- Pour the chicken broth or water into the bottom of the roasting pan.

- Cook the turkey for about 3 to 3.5 hours per pound, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the breast and 180°F (82°C) in the thigh, without touching the bone.

- Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes.

6. **Rest the Turkey:**

- Once the turkey is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 20 minutes before carving.

7. **Carve and Serve:**

- Remove the stuffing (if you cooked it inside the turkey) and carve the turkey.

- Serve with your favorite sides, like mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce.
