The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. It is also known as Duanwu Festival. This festival commemorates the poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River in the 5th century BC to protest against the corruption of the state. To honor him, people engage in various activities such as dragon boat races, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and hanging mugwort and calamus on doors.
