1. Dragon Boat Racing: This is the most famous activity of the Dragon Boat Festival. Teams of rowers race long, narrow boats with dragon-shaped heads and tails. It is believed that the festival commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a famous poet and politician during the Warring States period, who drowned himself in the river.

2. Eating Zongzi: Zongzi, or sticky rice dumplings, are a must-eat food during the Dragon Boat Festival. They are typically filled with sweet or savory ingredients like red bean paste, lotus seed, and meat, and wrapped in bamboo leaves. It is said that eating Zongzi can prevent illnesses and bring good luck.

3. Hanging Calamus and Mugwort: People hang the leaves of calamus and mugwort around their homes or in their clothing to ward off evil spirits and insects. These plants are believed to have strong aromatic properties and are thought to protect against diseases.

4. Wearing Periwinkle: The periwinkle flower, known as "may immortality" in Chinese, is worn as an amulet to protect against evil spirits and to promote longevity.

5. Dragon Boat Dance: This traditional dance involves performers dressed in dragon costumes, moving in a rhythmic and coordinated manner to the beat of drums and cymbals. It symbolizes the dragon boat and is performed to honor the festival's spirit.

6. Listening to the Drumming: Drumming is an integral part of the Dragon Boat Festival. It is believed that the loud sounds of drums and gongs can chase away evil spirits and protect the community.

7. Lighting Lanterns: In some areas, people light lanterns as a symbol of hope and to guide the spirits of the deceased to the afterlife.

These customs and activities are deeply rooted in Chinese culture and are celebrated to honor the traditions and spirits of the Dragon Boat Festival.
